This has been a year filled with virtual and finally live performances and classes made possible through our supporters, including you!

It’s outlined in our E-news edition at 2022- In Review

The previous year is at Images & Numbers- Recap 2021.

We were executive producers for the 16th annual San Pedro ♥ Festival of the Arts (formerly the TriArt Festival) which featured 18 curated dance companies at Peck Park.

In this year’s 43rd season we:

Began the year with LIVE teaching, beginning LIVE performances in February.

In March and April 2022 we fulfilled a live residency for the City of Carlsbad with Tap Dance Widows Club, and plunged into rehearsals for the reimagining of “Urban and Tribal Dances”, a suite of 6 dances originally created 1990-1992.
We also performed at the HHII Festival in Santa Barbara, and four of the dancers remaining that week for performances in three schools.

The June Ivy Substation LIVE performances was for us a creative success and we had 3 performances at the beautiful Culver City theater, also recording them.

In July came a Commission from the Dept of Cultural Affairs and the Los Angeles Dance Worker Coalition to focus on a specific place in the City Council District where we reside or work, and I featured the Madrid Theatre. Producing at the Madrid in Canoga Park has figured into the development of a number of our 100 works, and inspired by that theatre overlapping our present dancers with the past creations there, we began a new work that we are taking to New York in Jan. 2023.
In September we produced the 16th annual San Pedro Festival of the Arts. All LIVE school residencies in the fall included Vintage Magnet where we worked with primary grades, 61st St, and Crescent Heights Social Justice and S.T.E.A.M. Magnet ES.The performances were both outside and inside, and included our “Dance! with LA CHOREOGRAPHERS & DANCERS” and “The Better To Bite You With”, which we hadn’t performed since 2014. As part of the LAUSD Acceleration Day we joyously performed 7 shows in 2 days at Cowan El and Braddock Dr. El.

Last years new film work Reboot! Reboot!  began the 2023 year LIVE at an APAP performances as part of Booking Dance Festival NYC at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Jan 13 where we also performed our new work Gotta Get Up..

Last year your dollars helped with the following

Pay for our dancers to rehearse (even when on Zoom) and perform, ultimately LIVE again. And for rehearsal space, at first outside (when safer that way) and finally inside.

Helping to support our ongoing and new dancers become strong again as rehearsal spaces reopened after many months of Zoom rehearsals.

Helping to match our state, county and city grants so we could continue our residencies in schools when the school arts budgets were cut again (bringing back the days of 2008 and 2009).

Helping to keep all our own produced performances, whether virtual or live, free to the community!
